Have only been on a passenger plane in something like this once and hope never to be again. Took three attempts at the runway in NJ to get the plane down, and all of us in the cabin were terrified. Kudos to the pilot here for such a perfect landing!

Wonderful! I was a kid in 1991 first time flying over the Atlantic. The A310s were so underrated and excellent. I like the Tristar L10-11 best of all with BA from Manchester to NY then a US Air DC-9-30 to Cleveland, with crew handing out free drinks and snacks on US Air. Of course, the service on the Atlantic in economy was second to none and pity and airline cannot revive the same standard today. I am sure there is a market for decent meals and free drinks again included in your fare

I compare this video to one that was filmed in the early 2000s and there was a stark contrast in the type of planes featured. In the earlier video, you saw 757s , ( my favorite), 737s, L10-11s, DC-10s, DC-9s, 727s and A320s and in this video, the variety of jets and airlines is sparse. The aviation industry has become so homogenized, that the excitement of plane spotting is almost gone. Deregulating the industry in 1978, got things rolling in the wrong direction. I miss the "golden era" of air travel.

You needed extra simulator work to be certified for the chequerboard turn onto Kai Tak. You bank hard turn and land, reverse thrust and hope you don’t need more runway.
